Single Girls Buying Flowers

Tonight, I went grocery shopping to prepare for the pending snowstorm that was about to hit Colorado. As I entered the store, there was a large display of fresh cut flowers. A beautiful bouquet of purple mums caught my eye. I decided to treat myself and buy them instead of waiting to get them from a male suitor. We women usually put that aspect of our lives on hold, waiting for men to validate us with gifts of flowers, jewelry, or expensive perfume. Their gestures equate being cherished in our minds. The gifts get elevated and labeled for those who are paired off. But, we need to celebrate ourselves. Cherish who we are and lavish the love upon ourselves without waiting and putting that part of lives on hold. Yes, it is still nice to get it from men. But, it shouldn’t stop us if we are single. It doesn’t make us pathetic lonely spinsters. But, women who live life regardless. The flowers perked up my night as their beauty illuminated my apartment. We all need a touch of beauty in our everyday lives. And, a reminder how beautiful we are too.
